Reverse of Card Reads: A tarn is a small, natural mountain lake or pool, often glacial in origin. Loughrigg Tarn is a beautiful example, almost completely circular. It can be found in the Lake District, north of Windermere, and enjoys breath-taking views towards the Langdale Pikes. The poet William Wordsworth knew this tarn well; it is now a popular spot for wild swimming.
