With over 3.75 million visitors annually it is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK. The structure as a whole is 135m tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120m. It opened to the public on 9th March 2000 and up until 2006 it was the world's tallest ferris wheel after being over-taken by the Star of Nanchang at 165m tall, though it is still Europe's tallest ferris wheel.
