Description

Scenic blank card featuring the beautiful Whitburn Windmill, Whitburn, South Tyneside. In the photograph (taken by Guy Edwardes) the windmill is delicately framed by wispy clouds and an abundance of meadow flowers. Since the 18th century there has been a windmill here and the current windmill tower was used as a lookout during the Second World War to watch for enemy planes. In the early 1990's the windmill was completely restored by the local council.
