Picture postcard reproduction of a vintage Southern Railway advertising poster for the 'Golden Arrow' service running from London to Dover.
Southern Railway (later British Railway) ran the Golden Arrow - a luxury boat train - which linked London to Dover. Passengers would then take the ferry to Calais to join up with the Fleche d'Or to go on to Paris.
In 1926 The Fleche d'Or began service as a all-first-class Pullman service running between Paris and Calais. The equivalent service was started by Southern Railway on the 15th May 1929 - The Golden Arrow - running between London and Dover. At the same time a new exclusively first class ship was launched - The Canterbury - for the ferry crossing.
